My friend is running for mayor of our town. I want to help her and she asked that I look into building a campaign website, I am lost for where to start. I did a search for campaign website templates, found several. Guess I am clueless, how do I start? Guessing we would pay a fee and get a domain name, then start designing……….. maybe we’re lazy, is there such a thing as a ‘fill in the blanks’ sort of site builder?? I generally feel comfortable ‘working’ online, I do ebay, yahoo groups, enjoy participating in message boards, but have no idea what to do to get her started, do we just pay a web designer? This is a small city (4000 people) and we don’t have a huge budget. Any ideas would be appreciated! THANKS!

I found a great place for free information
Check out ipowerweb.com. They are a hosting provider (costs money) but include lots of free add on’s (polls, forms, etc) and templates. They will also help you purchase your domain name and point it to your website. They have alot of neat stuff provided to their customers. Very easy to set up if you do not have alot of webdesign experience.

Domain Name AND Hosting.
The name is just the name that people type in, then you get hosting where your website actually sits. When people type in the domain name, they get to your hosting.
Most of it is pretty ‘point and click’ once you have both a name and hosting account. You just go to ‘my hosting’ and set things up as they ask questions. When it’s all ready, you can even download free template websites to get it up and running quickly – using the Value Applications on the hosting account (no extra cost)
This requires a small amount of computer experience, but most standard users can figure it out after a bit of poking around and it is very affordable.
There is a “Build a Website” section for getting a website up the same night that is mostly for people who never use computers. Harder to work with, but a bit faster if you aren’t comfortable with things yet and just need it done.
