I’m having such a hard time getting myself to put together a website for my small business. Luckily, I’ve been getting decent work without it. But, of course, I would get more work if I got my ducks in order, so to speak, by putting together a website & marketing myself on the web. I just feel frozen everytime I start looking at those online web builder sites. I feel like there is so much I have to tackle. Partly cuz I’m a perfectionist and I don’t want to do a bad job. Partly it’s cuz in my mind, it seems so stressful to do something like that. I get around fine on the internet like doing research, going on community boards like this, email and fun games and such. But, the idea of getting a website together just gives me a knot in my stomach like in college when I had to do a huge final project or the like. UGH! Please help! Any kind suggestions would be appreciated. TY!
Also, I would really like to do this on my own. Something using templates & generic looking are ok with me as long as I get the job done. Thanks!

Online website builders take alot of time and often don’t look very professional. To be honest, your best off hiring a website builder. They will show you how it works and help you maintain it. Or you could download a program like Dreameweaver which, although expensive is very good and fairly easy to use.
I went to Office Depot and bought at program called WebEasy for $50 You don’t need to know code.
and you can launch it to any server provider godaddy or anyone. It allows you to use code if you know it.
It gives you lost of choices.
I have done a genealogy site with it for my family tree.
you can check it out, I am not a geek and it was fairly easy once I got going.
Professional quality? With an online builder tool? ∞ hours.
If you want professional quality, you need to understand HTML and CSS and craft it by hand. Graphical tools will result in either:
* Very basic pages
* Very fragile pages
or
* Pages that use templates and look exactly like hundreds of other sites.
None of these look particularly professional.
makes a good starting point for learning the languages of the trade.
How long it will take you to learn will depend on you.
How long it takes to build the site once you know how will depend on how much skill you’ve managed to develop and the size and complexity of what you set out to achieve.
I am a web designer/developer (I do mainly freelance) I would charge around 500 for a small business site with a built in content management system, so you would be able to login and edit the content whenever you want, 500 is relatively cheap, but then again, I am a college student to
