I have been laid off sometime now and I have my resume on a few different web site one being career builder, and last week a guy contacted me saying he was interested in secret shoppers in my area. I did some research and found out that the company he mentioned is legit. Well today I receive a check along with my first assignment, and the check is for $2,900.00 and $130.00 is supposed to be mine and like another $100.00 is for the actual assignment and then the rest I am supposed to wire to another lady in Kentucky for her job assignment. I called the bank from the check and they said it was legit, and I contacted the BBB and they said no, but they never asked for any info to verify anything. So should I deposit it or not?

It is a scam. You should never deposit a check when you’re supposed to send a portion of it to someone else.
Take the check and any envelope/letter to your post office. The post office may take it or not, as this is also postal fraud.
You can ask your bank if you get charges if a check is returned. If they won’t charge you, deposit it and wait for 1 month to allow processing time.
Good Luck!
It certainly sounds hokey to me. I would certainly not be wiring any money to people I don’t know. The worst thought is that you might be helping terrorists, the least worst is that you are being scammed in some way and will get in a jam that at this point is unforeseen.
There is no free lunch but if you work at it you can make money on the internet. Don’t listen if anyone says you will get rich quick or make $5,000 in your pajamas – they are just trying to sell a product. But I promise with some effort you can join the ranks of people who are legitimately making money online.
