What is the difference between a web host like Joyent and a basic hosting company like GoDaddy?

I’m trying to figure out which company to use for hosting the database that will be required for my small business. The business helps clients crunch certain information using a database (likely written in php).

I was referred to Joyent and it looks like a solid cloud host, but I’m also familiar with GoDaddy and they are much cheaper. Are they in the same ballpark in terms of what they can offer?

I’m having such a hard time getting myself to put together a website for my small business. Luckily, I’ve been getting decent work without it. But, of course, I would get more work if I got my ducks in order, so to speak, by putting together a website & marketing myself on the web. I just feel frozen everytime I start looking at those online web builder sites. I feel like there is so much I have to tackle. Partly cuz I’m a perfectionist and I don’t want to do a bad job. Partly it’s cuz in my mind, it seems so stressful to do something like that. I get around fine on the internet like doing research, going on community boards like this, email and fun games and such. But, the idea of getting a website together just gives me a knot in my stomach like in college when I had to do a huge final project or the like. UGH! Please help! Any kind suggestions would be appreciated. TY!
Also, I would really like to do this on my own. Something using templates & generic looking are ok with me as long as I get the job done. Thanks!

I signed up for a small business account. Right now I have the start up page and just downloaded the Yahoo! Site Builder. When I try to publish my page it says I need a Web Hosting account. Don’t I already have that?
Is there a way to build a page on Yahoo! without using the templates or the site builder?

Hey, I’m really new to all of this and not sure I did this correctly, but I registered a domain name with godaddy and then went to Yahoo small business for my hosting. I used the free site builder they provided and made my website. I published it, but now when I try to view my page I get a “Website is Coming Soon” headline and script below telling that I have yet to upload or have incorrectly uploaded my site. Can someone please tell me how to either fix this or what I have to do to get my site going?

Ok, i breed shih tzus on the side for a small business. I am looking to build a website for people to be able to look at my dogs, puppies, etc. I’m looking for the best website available to do this and i don’t have much money to work with so a free site would be best..Any help with this will be greatly appreciated! =)

I have a small business and need a user friendly ( perhaps site builder ) web hosting that’s easy and ( not necessary ) would like to have streaming video and pay pal option. I don’t think Yahoo can do video. I have Startlogic and its kinda confusing. Had help from a friend . www.asapest.com
